Best Practice in ADHD - A comprehensive literature review to identify a care pathway
Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder is the single most prevalent
mental health disorder among school age children, estimated to affect about 5%
of children (National Institute of Clinical Excellence, 2000).
There is broad agreement that treatment should be multi modal, taking a
rounded approach to the child and family across the range of settings.
For this project HASCAS produced a full review of the literature across the spectrum of care in ADHD, focusing mainly on UK studies
and including examples of good practice as well as a service user perspective. An expert panel, which advised on successive drafts,
comprised:
Professor Peter Hill, Wimpole Street Practice
Professor Paul Cooper, University of Leicester
Fintan O'Regan, Independent Consultant
Andrea Bilbow, The National Attention Deficit Disorder Information Service (ADDISS)
Fiona Gale, Regional Development Worker, National CAMHS Implementation Team
Dr. Daphne Keen, Consultant Paediatrician, St. George's Hospital
Cathy Laver-Bradbury, Senior Clinical Nurse Tutor, Ashurst Child & Family Centre
The document is available as a convenient A5 booklet, with pull-out care pathway model. There is no cost and individuals
and/or organisations may request any number of copies, although a modest charge for postage and packing will be requested for
larger orders.
